Earlier this year, plans were announced to renovate Shillito Park. Is there an update on the progress? What is planned for the park?
According to Councilmember Jennifer Mossotti’s newsletter, there is a slight delay in the progression of Shillito Park‘s renovation. Higher than expected market pricing coupled with a complex design for a custom-built playground is the culprit for the delay.
This has created the need to reevaluate the original approach and re-bid the project. Simply put, the bids far exceed the budget. After receiving public input last summer and fall, Parks and Recreation understands the need and desire for these improvements.
Unfortunately, this will leave Shillito Park without a playground for a little longer than expected. The original completion date was Summer 2019, but now are looking at a completion date of Fall 2019 at the earliest.
