Over the weekend of Saturday, December 7, a five-year old girl by the name of Maya Meena led a group of children to plant 100 trees in Lexington.

After seeing the marine life dying from the plastic waste, her parents said she wanted to do something about that. So she began to plant trees.

You can visit these trees at the Meadowbrook Greenway on E. Tiverton Way.

Among those supporting the children were the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government Urban Forestry Department, the Living Arts and Science Center, and the Bluegrass Youth Sustainability Council.
